Foremost in my work are my clients’ wishes. During the planning stage, I consider the site, its architecture, existing soils, water availability, patterns of sun and shade, existing and proposed plants, and construction materials—all the physical elements that must blend into a cohesive whole, whether for a private garden or a commercial or public site. Translating the desired style into details of scale, form, texture and color is essential to my work as a landscape designer. Excellent workmanship in the execution is key to a successful result.
