Miscellaneous Water Features
Many of my projects have included water features:
A natural brook became the center piece of a garden and plants as well as hardscape materials were chosen to blend with the setting. But a brook can also be created artificially, recirculating water collected from roof drains when possible (top row left with pool at right). A dry stream bed can be used for run-off during heavy rain periods.
Decorative pools appropriate to the designed landscape and surrounding architecture have included bubblers, geysers, falls and single jets rising out of gravel basins. Photos from a few examples:
row 1 left, a "natural" stream created ending - at right, in a pool;
row 2 left, new stream and pond for a new rock garden; at right, three small copper fountains set into plant pockets on a stone terrace;
row 3 left, an antique millstone converted to a fountain and at right, a new millstone with jet and pool;
row 4 left, pool with jets and stepping platforms; at right, a carved stone multi-level fountain;
row 5 left, a water rill for a narrow space with copper fall and sculpture;
at right, set into the lawn, a shallow pool with small sculpture has been painted black to reflect the sky.
